Jonathan Lewis, a 32-year-old teacher, recently purchased a house in Liverpool, England. While renovating, he noticed a strange spot under the stairs—part of the wall was covered with plasterboard, and a wire protruded from inside. He decided to investigate.
When Lewis punched a small hole in the wall and shone a flashlight inside, he was met with a surprise. An old rag doll sat inside the niche, and a note was tucked under its arm.
A Terrifying Message
The letter read:
“Dear reader or new homeowner!
Thank you for setting me free. My name is Emily. My first owners lived here in 1961. I didn’t like them, so they had to leave. They sang and partied too much—it was disgusting. I chose to kill them with a knife. I hope you have knives. Sleep well.”
At first glance, it sounded like the beginning of a real horror movie. However, Lewis quickly explained.
He said the note couldn’t be old. A realtor had previously told him that the house’s kitchen had been completely renovated just a few years ago. The paper also looked too new. Most likely, one of the previous owners had left this “joke” behind during the renovation.
The man himself took the discovery with humor. Some friends advised him to sell the house and move out, but Lewis merely laughed. He said he could pull a similar prank on the next owner himself.
Another creepy discovery.
A similar story happened in another house. A woman discovered a strange detail in the basement—a doll’s face protruding from a concrete wall. Her sister posted the photos on Twitter. They quickly went viral, garnering tens of thousands of shares and hundreds of thousands of likes.
Social media users actively discussed the discovery, writing that people needed to move out of the house immediately. However, the author of the post was only joking, calling the doll “a new family member.”
A Doll That Frightens Its Owners
Another strange story involves Debbie Merrick, an English resident who bought several old dolls at a thrift store for just a few pounds. Initially, she expected to sell them for more later.
However, one of the dolls—the one in the white dress—immediately struck her as unsettling. Soon, strange things began happening in the house: alarms went off at night, floorboards creaked, and one day, the woman’s husband discovered scratches on his legs that resembled cat scratches.
Merrick is certain that the doll is the cause. Her husband, on the other hand, doesn’t believe in mysticism and believes there’s a rational explanation for everything.
The suspicious toy now lies in a box in the shed. The last time she opened the box, she noticed the doll was in a different position, and its necklace was missing. After that, Merrick decided to get rid of it and list it on eBay.
According to the owner, she admits that some objects can “bind” strange energy, so she tries not to keep old things in the house.
