Prathab Muniyandi, a 33-year-old Malaysian, has earned a place in the Guinness Book of World Records thanks to an unusual feature: he has 42 teeth, 10 more than the average person.
According to Muniyandi, he began to suspect something was wrong with his teeth several years ago. He first noticed it in 2021, when, while having tea with his family, he told his relatives that he seemed to have extra teeth growing in.
His family decided to check it out and counted them. It was then discovered that he had 38 teeth. Later, dental X-rays revealed that he had four more teeth in his jaw that had not yet erupted. By early 2023, it became clear that he had 42 teeth.
Despite his unusual jaw structure, Muniandy says the extra teeth don’t cause him any problems. In fact, most people don’t even notice the difference until he tells them.
When people learn he has ten more teeth than most people (the average adult has 32), they often react with disbelief and surprise.
During an examination to confirm his record, dentists revealed another surprising piece of news: he has two more teeth in his jaw that haven’t yet emerged.
Muniandy thus officially earned the title of the man with the most teeth. The female record belongs to Kalpana Balan of India, who has 38 teeth.
The record holder himself admits he is honored to have achieved such an extraordinary feat. He says the realization that he has set a world record makes him truly happy.
