Have you ever noticed your cabin crew or thought about what goes on behind the warm greetings you receive when boarding?
Flight attendants are trained to pick up on everything about passengers in just three to four seconds. Flight attendants prioritize your safety and comfort, but they also take note of your attire.
Here’s what they observe: clothing, shoes, and jewelry.
Outfit choices are one of the first things noticed after a person’s face. Flight attendants search for clothing or jewelry that could pose a hazard, particularly in an emergency. This includes loose or awkwardly hanging items and uncomfortable clothing. Avoid wearing high heels, oversized hoop earrings, jumpsuits, or tight-fitting clothing on your flight.
Prioritize comfort over style, especially on long journeys.
The cabin crew pays close attention to passengers’ luggage. They check if it has been tagged for cargo, the size of the bag, and whether you look like you need help carrying it. They also scan for oversized luggage that may cause problems in the aisles or overhead bins. It is essential to ensure that your luggage meets the airline’s size and weight requirements to avoid any issues during the flight.
If you are pregnant, the cabin crew is trained to determine how many weeks along you are. This is primarily for safety reasons. It is generally safe to fly before the 36th week unless there have been complications for you or the baby.
If you have brought your food, you likely already know there are better options than airplane food.
Cabin crews may avoid eating plane food and instead bring homemade or shop-bought meals. Passengers who get their food are admired for their careful planning, awareness, and health consciousness.
If you are a nervous flier, introduce yourself to the flight attendants.
They are experts at spotting anxious passengers and can help make your trip more comfortable. If you have any worries, they may be able to adjust your seating position to calm you down.
As a reminder, it is essential not to consume too many alcoholic drinks before your flight. Staff members can quickly detect signs of intoxication, such as slurred speech, disruptive behavior, or aggression. The same applies to drug use. In either case, you may be removed from the flight before takeoff.
Additionally, attempting to smuggle contraband is strictly prohibited.
It is not advisable to try to deceive airline staff by bringing your alcohol on board in a non-conspicuous container, hoping they won’t notice you taking a sip now and then.
Also, refrain from taking a cigarette break, including an e-cigarette. There is no way you will get away with sneaking off to the toilet for one. Each bathroom has a smoke detector alarm, which will immediately alert the cabin crew. Smoking on board is illegal and can result in fines or imprisonment.
Many people try to smuggle their pets in handbags and purses, but this is prohibited. Additionally, pets can only be brought on board if they have been professionally vetted, fit comfortably in an FAA-approved pet carrier, and are registered with the airline well before your flight. All necessary fees must be paid in advance.
