When a severely neglected dog was brought to a grooming salon, the specialists couldn’t even tell his head from his tail at first. The animal’s entire body was hidden under huge clumps of dirty, matted fur. It had grown into thick dreadlocks that hadn’t been brushed or trimmed in years.

Several salons had previously turned him down. The groomers were worried the dog would be aggressive and wouldn’t let anyone touch him. But the specialists noticed his eyes, barely visible beneath the thick coat, and decided to take a chance.

When the clippers first approached his muzzle, everyone braced themselves for the worst. However, something completely unexpected happened. The dog didn’t growl, didn’t try to bite, and didn’t even flinch. He froze and let the groomers do their work, as if he finally knew he was safe.

But the procedure was extremely difficult. The matted fur had pulled his skin so tightly that a regular haircut could have resulted in serious injury. Beneath each dense clump was sensitive skin that had to be literally freed millimeter by millimeter.

Reaching the tail proved particularly difficult. Due to the enormous amount of matted fur, the specialists couldn’t immediately determine its true location. So they trimmed away layer by layer, taking care not to cut the skin.

As the heavy clumps of fur fell to the floor, the dog seemed to come alive. He began to move and breathe more easily. But the most critical area remained in front—the head.

The Puli has an unusual characteristic: its fur can naturally mat into long cords. Many myths surround such dogs, including the story that trimming the fur around the eyes can deprive the animal of its sight. In reality, excessively long and dirty fur covering the eyes can create entirely different problems.

The groomers carefully began to free the muzzle. They worked as slowly as possible, separating the dense strands one by one. And finally, the moment arrived—the heavy, woolly mask fell to the floor. What was revealed underneath brought a smile to everyone’s face.

After several hours of work, the dog was thoroughly washed, his skin cleaned, and completely restored. The specialists no longer saw a frightening furry creature. A beautiful, kind, and incredibly happy dog ​​lay on the table.

He constantly wagged his tail, as if thanking the people who had given him a new life.

What many considered aggressive and hopeless turned out to be an incredibly affectionate animal. Now he no longer had to drag around kilograms of dirty fur. He could once again move freely, see the world around him, and feel like a real dog.
