Stephen Colbert has taken on the case of the missing Princess amid drama about Kate Middleton’s whereabouts.
The Princess of Wales, 42, has barely been seen in public since her planned abdominal surgery in January.
Social media has been filled with speculations and conspiracy theories about the Duchess of Cambridge’s whereabouts and the reason for her long absence.
To add to these internet conspiracies, William has ignored questions about his wife’s condition and her recovery from an unspecified medical issue.
The situation became even more bizarre when Kensington Palace released a Mother’s Day photo of Middleton with her children, allegedly taken by William, 41.
Middleton is pictured sitting and smiling with her children: Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5. News agencies recalled the photo, claiming it was manipulated.
AP released a ‘kill notification’ stating, ‘At closer inspection, it appears that the source has manipulated the image.’
Middleton addressed the alterations to the portrait on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday.
Kensington Palace has declined to release the unedited photo.
The photo was intended to dispel rumors about Middleton’s health but had the opposite effect.
As Colbert mentioned, the rumors have now resurfaced, suggesting that Middleton’s absence from the public eye is linked to her husband’s alleged affair.
On Tuesday, Colbert expressed sympathy for Kate, saying, ‘Oh no, my heart goes out to poor Kate.’
It is speculated that the other woman is known to all. He joked about the beautiful name of Hanbury’s formal royal title, the Marchioness of Cholmondeley.
Colbert explained that Cholmondeley is pronounced ‘Chumley.’
Hanbury is an old friend of the royals and married to David Rocksavage, a close friend of William’s.
Rumors about the alleged affair between William and Hanbury began in 2019 when In Touch reported the claim.
William’s attorney denied the allegations, calling them false and highly damaging.
According to a screenshot shared by Cosmopolitan, an Instagram gossip account called Deuxmoi, I posted a tip in 2022 claiming that a British royal couple’s extramarital affair was an open secret. However, the message did not specify that the royal was William.
Hanbury and her husband attended King Charles III’s coronation in May 2023.
Neither Prince William, Middleton, nor Hanbury have publicly commented on the allegations.
